The Benefits Of Home Business Opportunity For Women

by OnBehalfOf on April 30, 2010

Many of the business opportunities out there are focused on drawing in women as their main target market. Women represent a minority in the business world. Despite the many strides women have taken over the past decades, they are still behind men when it comes to owning and operating their own businesses. With more and more women feeling the urge to stay at home with their children and escape the corporate world, a home business opportunity for women is just what they are wanting.

In the past the few home business opportunities for women were cosmetic companies. These companies, called direct sales companies, provided each business owner with the tools needed to sell the products. The women placed the orders for their customers with the main company. The main company sent the products to the business owner and then they distributed the products once they received them. These companies are still around and women are still making a nice income through them.

Today’s business opportunities for women, though, are more cutting edge. They do not focus on women only products. Women are out there selling everything and happy to do so. Today, owning a business is more about doing something you love then fitting a stereotype. It’s defiantly not about selling beauty items and plastic cookware anymore.XX

The home business opportunity for women available today allow a women to run her own business easily from the comfort of her home through the internet. Being able to stay home has many benefits. Staying home allows a women to save money. She won’t have the extra cost of commuting, babysitting or even work clothes. Additionally, being able to stay home means flexible hours, so she can take the children to doctors appointments or attend school events whenever she wants to. She can do all of this while still earning money through her home business.

Another great thing about internet home business for women is that there is a lot of support online. There are numerous websites dedicated to women business owners. Women can get together and discuss everything from marketing to what to make for dinner. This online community is very strong. Women are helping each other everyday to break into the business world. Having such a support system makes going into home business easier.

A business opportunity for women is more than just a new job or a way to make money. It allows her the freedom to be a mom, wife, whatever, while still having a career. These days women are trying to do it all and finding they barely have time to do so. With a home business a women can do it all and still have a little free time for herself.

Is paying women to stay home the best way to limit women's opportunities and promotions in the workplace?
How can women have both at the same time? By that I mean how can women have maternity leave benefits while also being considered equal contributors to the workplace, in comparison to men, 40+ women or childfree people, in the eyes of employers? Can women have their cake and eat it too? In the future, will feminists be battling widespread discrimination against women of childbearing age, who are turned down for jobs, promotions, and work opportunities because of their gender and age? And can you blame an employer, especially a small business, for wanting to protect itself? Why should employers be forced to hire employees that are liabilities to them?
Kaitlyn, childbirth is not comparable to a heart attack or a stroke. Having a child is a lifestyle choice… you chose to have children, and now you want your employer/taxpayer/co-workers help you raise your child.
rrb, so how did previous generations manage to get by without paid maternity leave? You must admit that it is very hypocritical how feminists put women into the workplace, said that women should not be deterred from working because of their biology, and now are trying to excuse women from work *because* of their biology? Do you not think this is self-entitlement? It is wanting privileges without responsibilities.
Sugar, why does the US have a higher birth rate than Western Europe, if it has "anti-family" policies? Why are women in Western Europe still not having many children, even when their government offers them so many benefits to do so? Perhaps a country’s birth rate is not all that relevant to the maternal benefits a woman receives for having children. Perhaps it has something to do with tradition and family values instead. Perhaps people are more inclined to want larger families if they were influenced to do so by their enviornment and conditioning.

Great question….most women feel they DESERVE to have their cake and eat it to simply b/c THEY WANT TO….no matter who else has to sacrifice or pick up the slack

Because women want to have all the good things that come from inequality, while leaving out any negatives. Like you said, they want to have their cake and eat it too.

It’s real simple: if you want to advance up the food chain as fast as your male co-workers, that means you don’t have babies. Why does it have to be so complicated?

I suppose the thumbs down means that women should be promoted as fast as a man even after having taken time off and/or dropped down to part time status? <shakes head>

why would you want to limit women’,s or anyone’s oppurtunies in the workplace? I thought it was already illegal to not hire women because they are of childbearing age. Its discrimination. Lots of ppl want to have kids, its not a womans fault that she happens to be the sex that carries babies. It doesnt limit a mans career when he has a family

With your attitude childbearing would be considered a liability, it is not. We would have no future generations. Your thinking is very sad. I don’t not have children and never wanted any and I am sometimes annoyed when coworkers use their children as excuses for privileges, but let’s not get carried away. Let’s face it women and men with children are an asset to the working force.

No I don’t think you can blame employers especially small business that are struggling to survive in the current economic climate. Legislation has been passed in Britain to combat this as by law in Britain employers MUST offer the job to the female over any male applicant IF everything else is equal. Silly laws like this are a symptom of the why feminist thinking is an ad hock attempt at equalizing the workforce in the name of fairness why using a unfair and very offensive way of trying to achieve their aim.
At the end of the day all it’s achieving is denying the right of men to unfair treatment which is a common out come of feministic laws as employers are not stupid they’ll get around the problem if they have too.

Every employee is a liability, whether they are out with recovering from a heart attack, stroke, car wreck or childbirth… it can happen to anyone. From what you say it would also be okay to discriminate against someone with a heart condition or diabetes as well. Sorry, you are in the wrong country for all that mess.

In Western Europe, women are thinking the way you are and are opting out of motherhood all together. Their birth rates are plummeting and their pension systems are in danger of collapsing, so their governments are bending over backwards and giving them money, time off, subsidized childcare, anything to have children. Though I am a child-free woman who doesn’t understand people who want children at all, I think it is interesting that people want women to choose work or family and when we choose work and we realize the government and employers have created this situation. Have it all? Not in the US with it’s anti-family policies. Even though they benefit me since I am a woman with no kids or intention of having them.

Why should employees also be forced to hire older workers, those in less than perfect health, and those who have disabilities? After all, they are just as big a liability as women of childbearing age. If every employer felt that way, millions of people would be unemployed because employers would only want to hire single, healthy, young men.

A special privilege of being a woman, is the right not to be discriminated against on reasonable grounds, unlike us social retards who don’t have that protection, just because we grew up in a dysfunctional environment.

At least they don’t force men to not work like women.

interesting name i must say. i’ve heard the myth of bluebeard and his wife.
now, why did you put that as your name? feeling a little supressed honey? feeling like you have a pig of a partner? i guess you would pick one, having the opinion that limiting women’s opportunities is a good thing.

I think maternity leave may in the end be detrimental to women’s emoployment because it must be cripplingly expensive for small businesses etc.

In the pre-industrial era of course it was much easier to combine work and childrearing because most people worked in or near their own homes, and work tended to be a family enterprise. Women would combine work with looking after the children,a nd children themselves would work as soon as they were old enough, helping out on the farm or in whatever trade the family engaged in.

You can still see this pattern in some countries, I saw a recent programme on southern India for instance in which you saw families working at the silk weaving trade, husbands and wives both working at the loom, and the children joining in as soon as they were old enough.

The seperation of home and workplace brought about by the Industrial Revolution led to a problem for women with children who needed to keep on working. That is why, for most women until comparatively recently, having to work and raise a family was not seen as a desirable option, and being able to stay at home with the children was regarded as an advantage rather than, as it seems to be nowadays, a fate worse than death. Women whose economic situation improved and who were able to stay at home regarded themselves as fortunate.

I think the insane worship of work that people go in for nowadays is at the root of the problem. The idea that happiness can only be attained in the workplace is bizarre, to say the least of it.

I want to further my career as I came out of the military to work with children. I have to complete my dissertation and then I get my degree. I am then doing what is called Early Years Practitioner Status here which means you become a graduate leader who works with children. I want to be the manager and do a lot of hours for free and work from home. I am very passionate about my job but I also have a child who is not yet two. She comes to work with me so I do everything a stay at home mum does and go to work at the same time. I only took 10 days off maternity leave as I was in the middle of doing my degree. I got some money from the government in place of maternity pay at the very start but then I went back to work because I didnt want to claim it as I thought it was trampy taking it from the government. I then started a job working with teenage parents and took my child to that to.

When I have another child I will go back as soon as they allow me to and bring my next child with me. I dont want to take long maternity leave and I dont believe in paying long maternity leave like you get in England and would never stay at home. People who stay at home where I live (in a low income area) just do it for free money and I believe they should all be made to work and stop being lazy expecting everything for free. Here you can have a child and then get a free house, loads of money and all bills paid. I know people that have enough money for cars, sattelite tv, ipods and all the best gadgets and toys even though neither parent works or they are single mums. I hate the dirty scumbags.

We are on low income but that doesnt mean I want supporting by the government to sit on my @ss. I want my daughter to grow up and realise you have to work for things. I also hope she gets married before she has kids and has the same family values as me.

I do think I am better than a lot of people where I am because I work part time. I know people might not agree with me but I would rather be me than them spending their days walking round town in circles with their pushchairs getting fat and smoking showing my daughter thats what they are going to end up doing in a few years time living in my free house with all free stuff. You could call it being paid to be a stay at home mum but I call it being paid to be a skanky, loser tramp.

(sorry that was a rant but made me feel better lol)
